Why stay at both Bunree and North Ledaig they are quite close to together only an hour if that apart.
Dont forget the Tablet it is a must if you like fudge but get the Loose Tablet that is weighed out DO NOT GET THE STUFF IN PACKETS that is the crap for numpty tourist and taste's nothing like Tablet.
Real tablet is yummy ymmy yummy ps the life span of tablet is a few days (goes off very quick)
Try white pudding also.

If you are planning visiting Nt property get the membership as it is cheaper for a family
All the woolen mills are the same shop but different names all owned by edinburgh woolen mill
Clachan Caravan club site, near Killin (2 nights)
try Bunree or north ledaig here then on to
Culloden Moor Caravan site, near Inverness (2 nights)
Morvich Caravan Club site, west coast (2 nights)
North Ledaig, or Bunree (2 nights)
Low Manesty Caravan Club site, Keswick (4 nights)
the above way will be an easier drive as killin to inverness will be a killer.

Hi, Presumably you are CC members going by the itinerary, if so club book will be very handy for these sites,or satnav. you will love Bunree, right on the shore,the site entrance is on the left of a right hand bend,(Form the south, and is easy to miss) site entrance is controled by traffic lights 100yards after you go over the cattle grid,(livestock roam free) if yoy fancy a meal or a drink, there is a caravan park, (Cant remember the name),with club house just across the road from the Bunree entrance,turn left and take first entrance on right and up the stoney road to clubhouse, all welcome and, hill walkers use it as a base. Should not have read this thred as i am getting very envious. good luck you will love your tour.

You're not unusual in trying to 'do' the Scottish Highlands in 10 days, but quite frankly, it wouldn't be for me.
You'll have to miss more than you can see, and as for what to see? Have a look on the Scottish Tourist Board's website, http://www.visitscotland.com/

Hi H+H When at the Culloden CC Site After you have done the NTS Battlefield a Must see are the Dolphins at Rosemarkie, On the Black Isle, But you have to time your visit when the tide is on the turn, If you get it right the Dolphins come right up to the water's edge. And on your way to Rosemarkie on the A832 Just befor Munlochy you can make a wish at the Clootie Well. Both are on the Web http://vimeo.com/4571901

Can I suggest that you leave Killin for another year and from Edinburgh you travel up the east coast and around to Culloden and Inverness.
Being a West Coaster I am loathed to promote the East Coast but there really are some very beautiful places over there and it would be a shame to miss all of these just to go to Killin, nice as that place also is.
Up the east and back down the west will give you a fair idea of what you can come back and explore another time.

Hi Harold+Hilda, Some good advice there about your planning, If i where to plan a trip, I would plan to work for one month of the year, and use the other eleven to tour Scotland (and not the other way about), as you would need that amount of time to see a fair bit of it. sorry have to disagree a bit with Lobey though regarding East coast promtion, im a West Coaster and love all of Scotland, North,South,East,West, though tend to tour west coast more. Some good advice on the planning though, as far to much to see in the time you have to tour, If you go to the route maps, you can type in the places you want to go to,then check them from site to site, it will give you a better idea of whats involved and distances,and time travelling between sites, But no matter what you decide to do, you will not be disappointed, as the scenery is breath takeingly beautiful. good luck with the planning.

To give you a more general idea of a Lobey Touring Timetable.
2 years ago we "toured" the Western Isles from the Butt of Lewis, furthest north, to Vatersay, furthest south. That is 140 miles by road and ferry.
Others do it in one day but we took 27 days. Even then we missed some bits and will have to go back eventually.
No matter how long you tour here for, there will always be parts you will just have to return to and other parts that you have still to see.
So do your tour and then come back next year and see some more.

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and ideas. I agree with Lobeydosser I think we'll just have to do our tour, try to fit in as much as poss and return again and probably again!! At least we've got a rough plan which may alter whilst we're on the road.
We are members of the National Trust so when in Edinburgh intend to call into the NT shop and pick up a guide to the Scottish sites.

Hi Harold+Hilda, Why not phone the Scottish Tourist Information Board, tell them your intended route,and ask them to send you all the information brochures for the areas of your intended route, that way you will have a better idea of where to stay, what to see, and how long to stay, and give you a little more time to organize your trip. info at visitscotland.com
