What a find. Fantastic location! Facilities are a little basic, (but that's just how we like it, no club house etc.) this site is on a farm after all and the facilities are very clean. Gareth, the owner is very friendly and helpful.
We (3 of us) stayed in our tent (with EHU) for 3 nights and can't wait to return. My daughter loved the trailer rides that gareth does in the evening around the field. The lake is a short cycle ride away and whinlatter forest a short drive away. You can cycle from the site but we found it easier to drive there, then cycle around the forest.

We are experienced campers and would rate this site overall at 8.5 out of 10.

We spent a few very rainy days in the Lakes however our enjoyment of our stay was due to staying at Lanefoot Farm campsite.

We pitched in the smaller meadow which is a pretty area and quiet. We managed to sit round an open campfire one evening (a break in the rain!), the fire container - a wheel rim and wood being supplied by the friendly owner, Gareth, at a really good value price of £4.

The facilities were great - clean, well maintained and lots of hot water. Although there is only one shower per gender we never had to queue. Recycling facilities exist and are a welcome sight.

A short walk away is a pub and the site is only 2.5 miles from Keswick where outdoor shops are every few footsteps!

We intend to return in the near future.

Having spotted this campsite on this website and having read the reviews, I thought I would give it a try and I'm so pleased that I did.

Gareth (the owner and definitely 'Mr Friendly and Helpful') told me when we called en-route that he was fully booked but nevertheless told me to turn up and he would fit us in. We (my son of 4 and I) pitched up on the main field by the road without a problem and the views were idillic - Whitlatter Forset to the left and over Bassenthwaite to Skiddaw to the right. Unbelieveable beauty, even for the Northeast Lakes.

The site did get a little busy (but with it being the first weekend of Half Term and also Bank Holiday weekend, what did I expect.!) and the comments regarding the amenities already posted are correct BUT DON'T LET THIS PUT YOU OFF. For the 2 nights we stayed I never saw a queue for either the gents or the showers. The amenities that are there are spotless and enough of everything from loo roll to hot water.

The clincher for me regarding this site and something I've never found permissable anywhere else is that fires are allowed. For the princely sum of £3, Gareth supplied an old steel wheel and more than enough wood for a fire to last into the early hours - something all the children on the site seemed to love!

There is a small playground consitsting of a large trampoline, slide and swing but staying here means you're in the Lakes and there's never a shortage of things to do (especially Whitlatter Forest Park with the new 'Go Ape' attraction)

The location of this site, the very reasonable fees and the outstanding care and helpfulness for guests by the owners has ruined me for other sites in the locality.

It's not a question of if we'll be back but how many weeks until we can re-visit. A real gem and if you want a site close to Keswick but far enough away, you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from a fabulous week at Lanefoot Farm - helped very much by the beautiful weather. We pitched our tent in the meadow field which felt very secluded and peaceful, although slightly bumpy if you have a large tent. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly, and were more happy to freeze ice packs for us every day and allow our 3 yr old to play in their garden. As previously stated, there is only 1 shower per sex which we never found a problem as the campsite wasn't too busy. We were told however that there are plans to make a larger shower block in one of the barns. Facilities were always spotless, with plenty of loo paper and lots of hot water. This campsite is in a fantastic location for exploring the rest of the lakes and the views from the campsite itself are breathtaking. The icing on the cake was sitting round a camp fire toasting marshmallows!

After a small detour (look out for the sign for the Gallery) we found the narrow country lane and farm buildings which make up the hub of the campsite. We were greeted by Gareth, who was very friendly and showed us where to pitch out tent.

We pitched on a football sized field with plenty of room for the kids to run around in. There were glorious views of the mountains and was flanked by a country road on one side, which you would only notice when an occasional bus or lorry drove past, and a field full of sheep on the other, which the kids loved, especially when a couple escaped!

The Coledale Inn, less than 1 mile away, served good pub grub and is very child friendly as they serve children’s meals and have an outdoor garden area. Keswick is only a short drive away where all supplies can be obtained although we found it quite busy during our half term visit.

The camp facilities are a little basic but were always spotless with plenty of loo roll and hot water. There are two showers one for the gents (over a bath with no plug!) and one shower for the ladies. We didn't think this was enough, saying that, we never had to queue even though the site was fairly busy.

Any minor niggles we may of had were far outweighed by the charm, location and simplicity of the site and the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. We can only recommend this site and would hope that other families get as much enjoyment from Lanefoot Farm as we did. We will definitely be returning.

Agree with previous review. The owners are welcoming and really friendly. We stayed in the main field close to the road, which was a bit noisy. It probably would have been better over the other side, but we arrived close to midnight, so just chose the first place we could find. Arriving late was no problem - we had phoned to say we would be late.

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and the site was full. There were 3 female toilets and one shower and one shower for the men (not sure how many toilets), but we didn't have to wait long to use either. Facilities were kept very clean and the showers were hot and free.

Dogs are welcome at the campsite.

Pub about 10 mins walk away serves good food. Close to Keswick if you want shops, and good location as a base for walking or cycling.

Would recommend this site if you want non-commercialised camping.
