This was our first every camping experience and while as a family we are used to hotels and caravans luxuries, this was a pleasant time. The camp site was clean, apart from the odd 'not picked up dog poo'. I did think the toilets and shower room need to be updated, but for the price we paid it was ok. The owner/manager was a nice man who came and said hello and made sure we were ok. We took our dog and was surprised to see that there were 3 dogs from the other campers just running about. We have family near to the farm, so we will definitely use the site again. I would recommend 2 things, maybe a little play area for the children and improving the toilets. But otherwise lovely views and a really nice area. We didn't do any walks or visit the pubs or the on site cafe, so I can not comment on them.

This is a lovely rural site. We stopped for one night as our first caravan trip of the year. Our party 2: Adults 2: Children aged 11 and 8 enjoyed walk round the farm looking at the pigs, chickens and Alpacas.
Not too far from Burscough (which has a Tesco's for shopping etc) There are a few country pubs around and quite near the canal so walks could be enjoyed.Next time we will take bikes.
Only given 7/10 for site facilities as there were no wash basins for hand washing or teeth brushing. However enough toilets and one shower unit - plenty for a CS
No children's park but we knew this before we went. Large grassy area for children to play. In all a top site we will return

Toilet facilities very basic ~ could do with being updated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Disappointed that we were charged the same price as the caravan next to us who were using electricity. Nice area to walk. Path to Martin Mere and the Leeds/Liverpool canal. Dogs need to be on leads. By the way we have a dog, but ours was under control. Public house within walking distance.

We really fancied this site for a peaceful weekend having read the reviews.
Only a couple of other caravans on the site over the weekend but lots of assorted family camping units peaking at 7 tents with over 20 inhabitants on Saturday night filling the small field with football playing kids and uncontrolled dogs. So much for peace and quiet!
The facilities just about coped as long as you wern't in a hurry, with the site owners valiantly trying to clear up the mess left by the families.
Tea rooms and farm shop fantastic.Particularly the breakfasts.
Martin Inn still shut but lots of other eateries within a short distance, the best of which were the Farmer's Arms, just along the canal at New Lane and the Elephant Indian Restraunt near the canal bridge at Scarisbrick.
The local footpath network towards Martin Mere has been changed to include a free reedbed walk complete with hides.
A gem of a site, sheltered and quiet most of the time but be prepared not to have it to yourself.

This is a small 5 van site with electric hook up on a gently sloping field. The facilities (toilet and shower) are pretty basic but were sufficient for us as we have facilities in the caravan. It was a very peaceful site with a farm shop / tea room which was very busy whilst we were there.
The pub down the road had closed unfortunately but that didn't bother us too much as we had chosen the site for a peaceful few days. It is close to Ormskirk which is a small busy town with a market on certain days.
Would definitely visit again as it was most relaxing. The one thing I was not too happy with was actually getting there as the roads have lots of bends and the directions from their website seem to take you the longest and most difficult route.

We stayed at this quiet little site for Valentines weekend. There is an area of hardstanding for 4 - 5 caravans and a gently sloping field. We enjoyed our stay although we found the facilities to be in need of a clean. There are 2 toilets, a shower and a washing up sink in a barn which whilst basic would be perfectly acceptable if cleaned regularly. Maybe we were just unlucky as we were there out of season.
There is a farm shop and cafe on site which were open on both the Saturday and Sunday we were there. They both seemed to be very popular, although we didn't have time to visit either.
Site is close to both Southport and Liverpool. There is a pub 5 minutes walk down the road which we didn't use.
All in all, an ideal site for a quiet weekend. Just wish the facilities had been cleaner!
