This site was ideal for our requirements. Direct from the site we could walk straight onto the sand dunes which led to a pleasant, sandy beach. Our two dogs loved it. The toilet block was basic, but clean. The shower was nice and warm after allowing it to run for a minute. We were welcome to use the Rugby Clubhouse which had a good variety of beers, which my husband appreciated. The village chippy was a few minutes walk via a footpath by the side of the Rugby Club grounds. The only minus point, for me, was that I didn't like the fact that the drinking water was immediately next to the chemical disposal point, although there was a small wall between them. (I can be a bit finicky about such things)
Overall, a smashing site which I would recommend to people who, like us, are content just walking their dogs along the beach. Will we return, you bet we will.

The site has improved since previous reviews, with new toilet and shower block having been built. Sink for domestic dish washing available now. Still very friendly helpful staff and site manager and very good beer. We have visited many times and intend to do so again. Pubs and shops in village very friendly. Excellent butchers shop in local town (millom). A visit to the Prison smokehouse for cheese and fish was good, as featured on Hairy Bikers series. This is a good site for quiet, friendly, child and dog loving people.

Great location next to the beach which was fantastic. Tried the recommended chippy and agree with other reviewers - excellent.
Can't complain at £10 a night and full use of the Rugby club bar (should you wish).
Pity the guy two pitches from us insisted on running a generator for hours at a time though.
On the whole, very friendly and relaxed. Motorhomers beware that no facilities on site for emptying gray water tank unless you've got a detachable tank or long hose.

Just come home from a week at this site. We were supposed to be touring the Midlands but the floods put us off and we decided to go back to Haverigg at the last minute. The field was great, lush green grass, well drained. Pitch with ehu for a tenner a night, including awning, 2 teenagers and two dogs. A great base for seeing the Lakes and the coast. We visited Whitehaven, Barrow-in-Furness, Ulverston, Eskdale, Coniston, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Keswick - all within reasonable driving distance. For the brave I would recommend a drive over Hardknott Pass - better than Blackpool's Big One anyday - and free. The site was quiet - just us and a few campers. The rugby club members are welcoming and friendly, and the beer in the clubhouse is tasty and reasonably priced. There is a Post Office and small stores in Haverigg, as well as a chippy selling very tasty fish. Millom has a small Somerfield and a Co op, plus a petrol station and a few free cash machines - didn't try the pubs. For larger stores you need to go about 20 miles to Barrow-in-Furness. The beach cafe at Haverigg fed my daughter and her friend for twenty quid for the week ! We had mugs of tea and coffee there 50p each - not worth boiling your own kettle. There is site next to the Rugby club - Butterflowers - our two teenagers spent a lot of time in the games room and swimming pool there. The sand dunes are great for walking the dogs and there weren't too many sightings of dog muck ! Try also Silecroft beach just up the coast - brilliant for walking the dogs and a spot of fishing when the tide is coming in. All in all Millom Rugby Club is one of the best sites we've stayed on. Basic but clean and spacious. We will be returning again and again

Just spent a very pleasant Bank holiday weekend at this site. Lovely views, very flat pitches- as you would expect around the edge of a rugby pitch. Very friendly & helpful steward. Basic in terms of toilets - to use the ladies you have to go into the Rugby Club itself. The only 2 showers are at the side of the clubhouse, obviously for rugby players, but this is not really a problem as they are in self contained cubicles with doors which lock, and plenty of room to get changed. Ladies facilities are apparently on the agenda. We spent Friday evening in the Clubhouse - reasonably priced drinks, and children are welcome. The club is actually at Haverigg - a quiet spot by the coast with rolling sand dunes for the dogs and kids to play in, and a nice beach. There is a small cafe at the end of the road which is open all day and makes a good full English breakfast for £3.50. If you want a quiet and cheap few days away then this is the place to go. Will definitely be going back
