This was a nice little campsite with good surrounding views and friendly hosts. When we arrived there had been a lot of rain so we were encouraged to go look to make sure we could get a decent pitch first. We managed to find a spot and got set up.

The facilities were good and clean, and the shower was free whenever we needed one. My only issue was that it got very busy, I like to find a secluded spot but we were surrounded by other campers, fair enough but just not my preference. At the time we were just lucky to find a campsite that wasn't completely waterlogged, which is why I presume, it was so busy as others had found the same.

The surrounding area is very nice, really enjoyed Keswick, would recommend a boat on Derwentwater not too far away. Reasonably priced too.

We found Lanefoot via this website. We read several positive reviews, which encouraged us to book - in preference for staying in the popular large site by Derwent Water. We stayed for 14 nights.

We were not disappointed. We arrived in rain and left in rain. We battled with mud, rain, hail and a morning with frost on the tent. But the experience was fantastic!

The facilities at Lanefoot are excellent - underfloor heated showers - always clean and tidy, with constant hot water. Clean toilets. Warm washing up area with three sinks - again plentiful hot water. A drying room for wet gear - much needed during our stay! A well stocked little shop. Possibility to freeze cold blocks - 20p each.

Helpful service provided by the owners. They could do nothing about the mud, but they made our stay a very pleasant one. We heartily recommend Lanefoot.

What an Excellent place, Four of us stayed in a big tent with an electric hookup.

We picked this site as we were allowed a campfire which really gives us the experience we were looking for. The owner comes round with timber and kindling for your fire at night but you can just call down to the on site shop which also stocks any essentials.

The Toilets were, well lets call them 'functional' rather than elegant but importantly clean! The newly refurbished showerblock / Washroom with heavenly underfloor heating (it hit -5oC one night, would have liked to have slept on it!) were wonderfully warm and clean with plenty of hot water

As amateurs we pitched on a bit of a slope on the field which meant we migrated down the slope on our airbeds / mattresses during the night (so as a general tip for any Newbies - Don't do that)

All in all a lovely place, we were blessed with Crystal clear skies for star gazing and a couple of passes of the ISS too!

Its an Isolated place, so you either have to be a keen, or happy to be a, walker or use a car to get around. Whinlatter forest is literally next door, I think next time we'll take our bikes.

Might be a good idea for the owners to install some high security Bike storage, as didn't see any (Although didn't ask) and seems a prime base spot for a days MTB

Like so many reviewers before us we really liked this campsite.

We camped in August and the site was quite busy, especially over the weekend. We were in the top Meadow field behind the farm house. Our pitch was quite slopey but we adapted well enough.

The views were amazing and the chickens entertaining. One stole a loaf of plum bread which I had thought was out of reach and wrapped up in a carrier bag - so how the hen knew there was something edible in there I have no idea. Smarter than they look it would appear! The sheep in the field behind us were quite chatty one night but for us that was part of the package and we didn't have a problem with that.

I can't add to what other reviewers have said about the facilities or the owner who was always there if needed. We found everything clean and although busy queues didn't last for long.

The campfires were great and even though the weather was variable with plenty of wet stuff we still managed a camp fire on 5 out of 7 evenings. Another important thing for us was a good nights sleep and we were delighted that noise wasn't an issue at all after 10pm.

We will be back again and can't wait for our next visit. Maybe the weather will be kinder to us next time.

Beautiful area. Friendly owners, clean and not overbooked.

Campfires are allowed.

Not enough showers and toilets so had to queue, they were kept clean and owner constantly mopping.

I believe they offer EHU in another field, we didn't use this facility.

A must visit with children is Whinlatter forest as they have a free kids play area which will easily kill 2 hours (take a picnic as cafe is expensive).

Keswick 5 minutes drive away where there is a Booths supermarket.

Nice pub with outside seating area in Thornthwaite just before farm.

We spent all day trying to find a beach on the lake, we had no success. We were told later on in the day that there is a great place to play in a stream just past the pub (ask the owner of the campsite, he will direct you)

Will definitely visit again.

We have just returned from a very wet week at Lanefoot Farm. Like others, we had a lovely time and particularly enjoyed the stunning views from the site.

The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful. He was always around and never seemed to rest.

We pitched on the field in front of the farm, on a slight slope but it drained well and we had views over Dodd Fell and Skiddaw.

We visited the Osprey Viewpoint at Mirehouse, it was well worth climbing to the higher station as we saw all three Ospreys and a Red Squirrel.

We had good fish and chips from the Kingfisher in Keswick and a meal at the Coledale Inn - really friendly, and we saw Jess Ennis win the 800m on the TV - perfect combination!
