Brilliant, would definitely recommend, family friendly and great for dogs, plenty of room, my springer spaniel (as you know they need a lot of exercise) was more then happy with the space to run around and the pathway walks which run through the campsite.

The gentleman who runs things, Tony, is brilliant, he could not do enough to make our stay better, the toilets and showers, were lovely and clean which for me (suffering with OCD) is a must. There is a lovely large toilet and shower room which is perfect for disabled (although there is a little step) its also ideal for parents to get the little ones washed and dressed with ease!

Bank Holiday visit. Due to traffic, we didn't arrive on site until well after dark, but found the owner very helpful and amenable, showing us to our pitch & running through site facilities even at 10PM - long after most people would expect to have finished their 'shift'.

The site is advertised as flat to slightly sloping pitches with shelter from wind - facilities are as advertised too. Contrary to other reviews, it IS possible to shower in privacy, the shower is at the end of the cabin and was a lovely power shower when we visited (may have been upgraded since previous visitors?)

When we arrived, there was no soap, but this had been replenished on the Saturday, as were the (2 roll) loo roll holders. Don't other reviewers take hygiene basics with them?

We had no problems with traffic (or other human-made) noise over our 2 night stay - had almost forgotten how noisy cattle can be, but was woken by their sounds both mornings. Not a problem for us, but something to consider.

Agree broadly re. Access to site, but we were in a 4x4 car, so had few difficulties with the road surfaces, BUT the access from Ipplepen Lane can be a pain if you meet other vehicles - the lane is quite narrow.

Our sat nav found Ipplepen Lane, no problem, but told us we'd arrived a few hundred mtrs early. Not a problem for us. Didn't set the destination on postcode alone, hint hint!

Didn't really try the local facilities, as we took basic foods with us and ate out on our travels.

Final verdict? 9 out of 10 (nothing is ever perfect) - would definitely visit again and highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxed campsite in this area.

Very reasonably priced site - have paid far more money to use lesser sites in the past!

Visited whilst in the area recently. We only stayed one night after getting there late so didn't see much of the site but some important points.

* could hear traffic from the ring road over night (there seemed to be a lot of traffic for the middle of the night)

* The toilets are unisex

* The door to the shower (in the unisex toilets) had to be forced shut as it didn't seem to fit in the gap and once I got it shut the bolt was so rusted I couldn't move it. Needless to say I didn't have a shower!

* The only sinks they have are in the open part of the toilets so a proper wash is impossible unless you like to get naked in front of others

* The toilets don't have any soap in them???

* The access to the site is quite difficult up small lane.

* Dont trust satnavs based on postcode. It will take you nowhere near the site.

*Although we didn't stay long enough to use them we hear the nearby pub church house is very nice.

* The wardens/owners seemed nice.

* It is pretty cheap

Delightful site with a difficult approach. Open field with good level areas, water and power . Other areas are available if needed.

Toilet block is adequate,with chemical toilet emptying point adjacent. The owner plans upgrading and is steadily improving the site.

Local shops, garage and two excellent pubs within a mile with supermarkets about 3 miles away.

Convenient for the ring road,Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Totnes and Dartmoor. But undisturbed by traffic noise.

No specific facilities for children but they are very welcome.

Very basic site. No showers or hot water. Sinks in Portacabin toilet block had no privacy from people passing when door was open - so couldn't even have a strip wash. No washing up area.

Camping field had an electric fence in it- which proved to be a problem if you have a 2 year old who wants to play.

On the positive side very cheap at £8 a night for a tent in high season

Owner's comment : As of 2010 there are now showers and the electric fence has been removed and field opened up.
